Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Ingredients
- Toast the Bread: Lightly toast 12 slices of bread until golden brown. This adds a satisfying crunch and prevents the sandwich from becoming soggy.
- Cook the Bacon: Fry or bake the bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
- Slice the Vegetables: Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thin rounds.
Step 2: Assemble the Sandwich
- Layer 1: Spread mayonnaise (and Dijon mustard, if using) on one slice of toasted bread. Add a layer of turkey or chicken, followed by 2 slices of bacon, a tomato slice, and a lettuce leaf. Season with salt and pepper.
- Layer 2: Place a second slice of toasted bread on top. Spread mayonnaise on this slice, then repeat the layering process with turkey, bacon, tomato, and lettuce.
- Layer 3: Top with the third slice of toasted bread. Press down gently to secure the layers.
