  • Avocado slices
  • Cheese slices (cheddar or Swiss)
  • Pickles
  • Hard-boiled egg slices
  • leaves of crisp lettuce (butter lettuce or romaine work well)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Ingredients

  1. Toast the Bread: Lightly toast 12 slices of bread until golden brown. This adds a satisfying crunch and prevents the sandwich from becoming soggy.
  2. Cook the Bacon: Fry or bake the bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
  3. Slice the Vegetables: Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thin rounds.

Step 2: Assemble the Sandwich

  1. Layer 1: Spread mayonnaise (and Dijon mustard, if using) on one slice of toasted bread. Add a layer of turkey or chicken, followed by 2 slices of bacon, a tomato slice, and a lettuce leaf. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Layer 2: Place a second slice of toasted bread on top. Spread mayonnaise on this slice, then repeat the layering process with turkey, bacon, tomato, and lettuce.
