Scale
Dry Ingredients:
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 3½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 1¼ cups milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Additional butter for cooking and serving
- Maple syrup, warmed, for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the milk, add the egg, and drizzle in the melted butter.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps. Avoid over mixing to keep the pancakes light and fluffy.
Step 2: Heat the Griddle
- Place a griddle or large frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Lightly grease with a small amount of butter or oil.
Step 3: Cook the Pancakes
- Pour approximately ¼ cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges appear set, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the pancake and cook the other side until golden brown, an additional 2 minutes.
- Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter or oil to the griddle as needed.
Step 4: Serve
- Stack the pancakes on a plate, placing a pat of butter between each layer if desired.
- Drizzle generously with warm maple syrup and serve immediately.
